A cold wind off Lake Wakatipu lifts at your back as the guide explains balance and braking on a pair of quiet, two-wheeled machines. You glide away from the One Mile Powerhouse car park onto the lakeside esplanade, Segways humming as the water dares you to stare into its depth. The Gardens’ manicured lawns and curious conifers slide past; overhead, the Remarkables watch the shoreline change light.
