Saltwater Pony Tours operates guided back bay cruises around Assateague and Chincoteague Islands, offering wildlife-focused experiences that highlight the region’s natural history and coastal ecosystems. The business runs two main offerings: private tours aboard a shaded Tritoon boat designed for intimate small-group cruises, and book-by-the-seat departures that allow individual travelers to join scheduled two-hour excursions. Each two-hour cruise navigates the sheltered waters around Assateague and Chincoteague, where passengers frequently observe Bald Eagles, Ospreys, dolphins, and the wild Chincoteague Ponies inhabiting the barrier island habitats. Saltwater Pony Tours emphasizes comfort and accessibility by using stable Tritoon craft with shaded seating, attentive safety practices, and knowledgeable local guides who point out wildlife, tidal patterns, and historical landmarks visible from the back bay. The company focuses on low-impact wildlife viewing and follows guidelines to minimize disturbance to animals and habitats, maintaining respect for National Seashore regulations and local conservation practices. Safety briefings, life jackets, and clear boarding instructions are standard for all departures. Saltwater Pony Tours is suitable for families, photographers, birdwatchers, and visitors seeking an introduction to the region’s coastal ecology.
