You start at Pink Triangle Plaza with the city pressed around you — steep streets unfolding like a map, vintage neon punctuating storefronts, and a breeze that moves through Castro flags and gumdrop hills. The game drops a clue in your phone and the neighborhood answers: Milk Plaza, the Castro Theatre’s marquee, the GLBT Historical Society, small plaques and stoops that carry people’s names and politics.
easy.
1.5–2 hours.
Suitable for most fitness levels — involves continuous walking on paved urban sidewalks with short steep sections.
Go to Pink Triangle Plaza, open the Questo app, unlock the game via the link in your booking email, and follow the first clue.
Expect about 80–110 minutes to complete the core route, longer if you stop at museums, cafés, or interpretive displays.
Most sidewalks are accessible but some segments include steep streets and curb cuts; infants can use strollers but check specific steep sections beforehand.
The game recommends one ticket per person for the optimal experience, though several people can share a single device if desired.
The Castro became a national center of LGBTQ+ politics in the 1970s; Harvey Milk’s election and subsequent assassination are key events commemorated around the neighborhood.
Respect private property and local businesses, carry out trash, and support neighborhood sustainability by patronizing small, locally owned shops.
