Departing Lagos Marina we head up the historic river taking in the sights & out into the Atlantic Ocean, heading East towards Alvor’s beautiful beaches & rock formations. Then hugging the stunning coastline along Praia da Rocha & into the Arade river that separates Portimao & Ferragudo & leads to the medieval town of Silves. Passing three of Portimao’s marinas & under many bridges we wind our way up the river until Silves can been seen a few miles further on in the distance & our destination reveals itself tucked away on the riverside. Mooring right outside the restaurant you are just a few steps from your table. Here you can kickback & enjoy a relaxing long lunch with Ivan on the grill & Ana & her team making sure you don’t go thirsty. Ivan’s rustic style Portuguese dishes are some of the best I’ve tasted, everything tastes fantastic, the menu changes daily to accommodate fresh local produce & ingredients. It’s time to leave when the tide is dropping, heading back down the river where we can drop anchor near the beach of Ferragudo or at one of our other favourite anchorages so you can swim from the boat or just relax with a chilled drink of two, then heading back across the bay of Lagos to the marina where you can choose one of the great bars & restaurants to enjoy a sundowner cocktail. Does not include lunch (approx €55pp).
This private trip has limited availability and is popular in high season; reserve early to secure your spot.
A swim stop near Ferragudo lets you cool off; pack your swim gear for a refreshing dip.
The trip involves river and coastal sailing; if prone to seasickness, bring medication or patches.
With several hours on open water and the sun reflecting off the river, sunscreen and a hat are must-haves.
Silves was a major Moorish stronghold in the Algarve, its 11th-century castle still towering over the town as a reminder of Portugal’s layered past.
The Arade River ecosystem is monitored to balance tourism with habitat protection, ensuring the river remains a haven for native wildlife and plants.
For cooling off at the designated swim stop near Ferragudo beach.
