Reservations & walk-ups welcomed. We offer Stand Up Paddleboard rentals from Fort Worden State Park. Fort Worden offers incredibly views of the Olympic Mountains, Point Wilson, Mt. Baker, Marrowstone and Whidbey Islands as more. Renters can paddle past historic Fort Worden & the quaint, quirky, and maritime Port Townsend sea front. The area is frequently home to seals, river otters, pigeon guillemots, bald eagles, & more.

Renters may range from our location south through downtown Port Townsend as far as the beach in front of Tyler Street plaza and up to 300' (100 meters) off shore. !Description of image This area has excellent scenery and interesting features. It offers gentle currents in contrast to the radically more powerful tidal currents where we do not allow renters to go because they easily overwhelm paddlers.

##Meet Up We are located at the Olympic Kayak Tours stand at Fort Worden besides the Port Townsend Marine Science Center & the Beach Canteen.

You can arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of your rental so you can be outfitted and oriented before your rental time starts. .

There are bathrooms here located a few hundred away from the OKT stand. You will need a Discover Pass for your vehicle(s) we do not sell them but the park does either at the main entrance or from a computerized kiosk in the parking lot, they are $10 for the day or $30 for the year.

##Gear

You should bring:

  • Weather appropriate clothing - to do that you have to check the weather the day before or the day of. Basically layers give you options, cotton is rotten for water activities, and its the pacific northwest so bring a light rainjacket just in case.
  • Water shoes or sandals.
  • Sunglasses, sunblock, and hat recommended.
  • ***** We recommend not bringing anything in the kayak that you would prefer to keep dry, unless you have a trustworthy method of keeping your belongings dry.

You (or your party) will be moving your kayak and gear down to the water from our business area, if you wish we will mount the kayak on a wheeled kayak cart to make your trip easier and then you can return the cart to us, or if you prefer you can hand carry the kayaks to the water.

-Cotton is rotten explainer if you're not familiar. When cotton becomes wet it becomes extremely cold and is actually much colder than wearing nothing at all. When kayaking it is ideal to wear no cotton at all, and instead dress in synthetics or wool

If we need to cancel rental reservations due to weather safety we will offer a full refund.

For questions or concerns email at olympickayaktours@gmail.com or call (360) 453-7135. And if you can't make it please do let us know.
