About Seal Walks at Salisbury Beach State Reservation

Seal Walks are conducted in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and take place at Salisbury Beach State Reservation. We will walk a half-mile down to the shore line to view seals that typically haul out on the rocks near the mouth of the Merrimack River. Following federal guidelines for viewing protected marine mammals, we will maintain a safe distance of at least 150 away.

Gear/What to Wear:

  • We will have some scopes and binoculars available to use; please feel free to also bring your own.
  • Seal walks are held entirely outdoors and are typically held rain or shine, unless thunder/lightning is predicted. Please be sure to dress for the weather and varied terrain, and wear warm clothing and sturdy shoes.
