The Shipping Lanes (the busiest in the world) really is a sight to behold. : about a 2-hour trip but allow 3 including boarding and departing the marina.

The shipping lanes give passage to over 400 ships per day, some of these ships are just under ½ a kilometre long and can carry up to 250,000 tons of cargo at speeds faster than the average speed boat.

  • Board the boat and travel through the bridges in the marina, looking at all the shops and other boats as we pass.
  • Then go through the big lock gates in the harbour. These are opened on the hour and every half hour.
  • Head out across the sovereign shoals, past the location of the now removed Royal Sovereign Lighthouse.
  • Then head over to the CS2 special marker on the edge of the first shipping lane.
  • Depending on visibility we cross the East to West Shipping lane.
