Prerequisites:

The Backwall trips cater to experienced divers who possess advanced skills and have participated in recent dives, preferably in Maui. A minimum of 40 lifetime dives is required for individuals seeking to join this excursion. Participants must demonstrate the ability to descend rapidly, feel at ease in challenging currents, exhibit excellent buoyancy control, and confidently perform a safety stop without relying on a mooring line. If you have fewer than 40 dives or haven't engaged in diving within the last 6 months, it is recommended that you choose a different dive option..**

What to Expect:

With over 300' of depth the Backwall is for divers with bit more experience (40 dives) to ensure proper buoyancy and added awareness during the dive. Here you will find a gorgeous deep vista and steep deep drop off. The wall, sheer in places, drops vertically out of sight, even with the over one-hundred-foot visibility that is common here. Uncommon at other sites, pyramid butterflyfish hover in loose aggregations, black coral houses long-nose hawkfish and gobies; and orange cup coral blankets the shaded undersides of large overhangs. And just like on the inside of Molokini, anything can come in from the blue. The Backwall of Molokini is a Drift dive which is another reason we require a little more experience in order to be a part of this dive, as well it requires another crew member in order to have the proper surface support. For these reasons it is not a dive that can be done every day. Feel free to give us a call before booking if the Backwall is your must see to destination, and we will let you know if we have the possibility of going.

During your trip, we provide a nice assortment of delicious snacks, fruits, and beverages to make your trip highly enjoyable.

Do you need rental gear?

We have you covered! We can provide you with Premium BCD's, Regulators, and Wetsuits. (Mask and fins are always included in the base price), remember to please specify your needs!

The Fine Print:

Certified divers must have recent dive experience within the last 2 years. If it has been more than 2 years since your last dive, we require you to take a refresher prior to your trip with us. We can provide one from our other company Maui Dreams Dive Company. Go back to the main page and click on the Maui Dreams logo.

The Small Print:

Though we are planning to dive the Backwall on this date, Mother Nature is the ultimate boss of what we do. Should we find ourselves in conditions that do not allow us to safely dive the Backwall, we will find another less traveled/more advanced site or two and take it from there. We will not issue refunds if, due to weather conditions, we do not dive at this site. We always have a fabulous dive trip planned, but sometimes mother nature does not cooperate. If conditions are not safe or suitable for any particular dive site, the captain may make a judgement call and take you to the best possible dive site of the day. So, although Molokini Crater is usually our #1 planned destination, if it's not safe to dive there, we will adjust our day accordingly to ensure you have a fantastic experience.

"Safe and Fun, in that order!" That is our motto. If we can't do both we aren't doing it. If for whatever reason conditions are so bad that the captain decides to "call off the day" we will happily reschedule you for another day, or offer you a full refund.
