Experience the thrill of sailing aboard the classic yacht Scout with Traverse Tall Ship Co. Enjoy a 6-hour Private Power Island Package, where you can help set the sails and steer the ship while taking in stunning views of Grand Traverse Bay. Explore Power Island's natural beauty with hiking and swimming for a perfect family adventure.
Traverse Tall Ship Co. offers the premier day sailing experience in Traverse City! Join us for a relaxing, entertaining, 6-hour Private Power Island Package aboard the classic yacht Scout, as we cruise the spectacular waters of Grand Traverse Bay.
Once clear of the dock, guests are invited to help set Scout’s sails, the engine is shut off, and the ship glides along under wind power alone. You can sit back and take it all in, or become involved with the sailing of the vessel, assisting the crew with the lines, or perhaps even taking a turn at the wheel if conditions allow.
What You Can Expect: We will sail lower West Grand Traverse Bay, affording a good view of the Traverse City waterfront, including landmarks such as the historic Park Place Hotel and the Great Lakes Maritime Academy with its 224 ft. training vessel, State of Michigan. You’re welcome to help raise the sails and steer the ship (great photo op!). Our friendly captain and crew love to chat one-on-one and answer your questions in this casual and friendly environment. Once at Power Island, you may go ashore to enjoy hiking, picnicking, sunbathing, rock hunting, and swimming. A relaxing sail back to “civilization” completes this memorable experience.
This option is an ideal family adventure!
