You start before dawn in Perito Moreno, engine humming, tires taking the steppe’s gravel as the sky blanches to pale blue. Route 41 unfurls ahead: low scrub and wind-sculpted grasses give way, slowly, to the compact geometry of volcanic ridges and the first high-Andean gullies. The road climbs from roughly 400 m to around 1,500 m, and with that ascent the air cools and the landscape shifts — rivers becoming crisper, lakes reflecting serrated peaks.
