The raft drops into the Sarapiquí and the river immediately takes the lead: boiling boils, hollow waves and rocky teeth that demand attention. For two hours the current runs a relentless gauntlet of Class III and IV rapids, splashing through low rainforest cliffs and past emergent trees where toucans call and howler monkeys keep time.
