Morning fog lifts off the Hoang Lien Son and the Muong Hoa stream starts to gleam—this is where the day’s walk begins. From Sapa town your guide leads you down carved stone paths into Y Linh Ho, following terraces that step down the valley like a slow, patient staircase. Rice paddies reflect the sky; the stream dares you to follow its meanders as the cliffs of Fansipan watch overhead.
