The catamaran cuts through morning glass as the Dominican coast shrinks behind you, a wash of palms and reef giving way to open blue. By midmorning the engine eases and a shallow, crystalline pool appears like a stage set—water at wrist height, starfish clinging to sand, and a band of white beach that seems to float on the horizon. Saona’s shoreline invites barefoot exploration while the island’s palms lean in as if to watch.

Yes—beach and natural pool areas are shallow and supervised, but non-swimmers should wear life vests provided and be cautious around reefs.
A full beach-style lunch with rice, beans, multiple meats and salads is typically included, plus an open bar for most tours—verify specifics with the operator.
Take preventative medication or use motion-sickness bands before boarding; choose a seat mid-ship and focus on the horizon during crossings.
Saona sits within Cotubanamá National Park and has Taíno heritage; the island’s role shifted from subsistence fishing to protected parkland and tourism in the 20th century.
The area is part of a protected national park—visitors are encouraged to use reef-safe products, avoid touching marine life, and follow guides’ instructions to reduce impact.
