A closed 4x4 grinds up a steep gravel spine as mist thins and the valley behind you shrinks — the vehicle pitches, rocks chatter, and the pass seems to test every turn. At the summit (2,874 m) you step out into thin air, tea steam in your hands, and a vast, hard sky opening toward Lesotho.
