You feel it the moment the Land Rover climbs the first ridge: a soft give under the tires, then a firm grip as the Defender eats the dune and the Atlantic unspools to the left. Wind pushes salt spray toward the hood; to the right, the desert drops away in cream-colored ripples. This is where Namibia’s Skeleton Coast stops being a line on a map and starts to argue with your expectations—the ocean daring the dunes and the dunes, stubborn as ever, pushing the shoreline inland.
