You arrive where the coastal breeze gives way to cooler mountain air and the road narrows into rutted ranch track. Olive-gray oaks and low pines lean over the trail; a dry arroyo dares you to follow its course toward the canyon. At Camp San Dionisio the tents sit on platforms with memory-foam beds, and the hush of the Sierra de la Laguna settles like a hand on your shoulder.
