Before dawn you leave Panama City, headlights sweeping across a ribbon of road as the Caribbean horizon brightens. After 2.5–3 hours of curving mountain highway you arrive at a busy Kuna port; the lancha waits with a wide awning and the sea already scenting the air. The first stop, Isla Perro, puts you shoulder-deep in bright reef life circling a shallow, photogenic shipwreck. Later a sandbar called the Natural Pool lays out waist-deep glass where starfish sit like small suns and the current barely nudges you.
