About

The Salida Valley is an enjoyable way for everyone to experience the Arkansas River. Small splashy rapids and lots of floating. A great way to spend the morning or afternoon with the whole family. Class I and II rapids are interspersed with sections of calm where you can relax and enjoy panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains, and the blue heron, mallards and geese.

The Full Day trip includes lunch.

We launch just minutes from our office, and float through the open Arkansas River valley. Stunning views of the Sawatch Mountain range of the Rocky Mountains are the backdrop for this trip. We also pass through the town of Salida, and get to experience the man made rapids in the play park. The trip ends at Salida East State Park access area.

This is a great introductory trip for young kids and adults. Children must be at least 5 years old and weight 35 pounds or more.

Minimum Requirements: 5 years old and 35 lbs.

Adventure Tips

Bring Waterproof Bags

Keep your valuables and clothes dry by packing them in waterproof bags or dry sacks.

Wear Sunscreen and a Hat

Protect yourself from sun exposure during the float, as much of the trip is out in the open.

Arrive Early for Check-In

Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early for orientation and to get fitted with your gear comfortably.

Stay Hydrated

Bring a refillable water bottle and drink plenty of water before and during the trip to stay hydrated.
