The prop plane drops you onto a slim airstrip carved out of endless green; the rainforest exhales and the river dares you forward. From the first boat ride to the start of the trail, the jungle sets the pace—thick humidity, bird calls that cut through the canopy, and a distant, constant drum of water. By day two the trail tightens: roots, rocky stream crossings and steep switchbacks that lead you up toward the ridges of the Ekereku Mountains.
