About Sail Ontario

Sail Ontario is a sailing operator offering private charters, boat rentals, and American Sailing Association (ASA) instruction on Lake Ontario and nearby waters.

The company operates a fleet that includes a 1976 Dufour 24', a 1985 Catalina 22', and a 25' O'Day, providing options for day sails, overnight trips, and hands-on training.

Sail Ontario runs ASA courses including the ASA 101: Basic Keelboat I, a 16-hour entry-level course that covers sailing fundamentals, terminology, knots, and navigation and includes a complimentary boat rental upon certification.

For advanced certification, the ASA 103 Challenge combines a written exam with a 4–6 hour practical on-water test to evaluate skipper skills.

Private charters include a five-hour Half Day Sail from Sackets Harbor's Navy Point Marina to Henderson Bay and nearby islands, and a Full Day Sail with extended time for anchoring, exploring Cape Vincent, dining ashore, and longer sailing legs. Guests are encouraged to bring personal snacks, music, and comfort items for a personalized experience.

Sail Ontario emphasizes safety, skill development, and flexible, customizable trips suitable for learners and experienced sailors. Availability can be limited for specific vessels and dates, so early booking is recommended. Instruction and charters run in varied weather but are subject to cancellation in extreme conditions.

Booking details, specific itineraries, and vessel availability are published on Sail Ontario's schedule and updated seasonally to reflect demand for visitors.
