About This Adventure

Master the art of sailing with this comprehensive course, designed for those ready to advance their skills. Learn to confidently skipper a 25 to 35-foot auxiliary sailboat in moderate conditions, covering essential topics like navigation, safety, and seamanship. Elevate your sailing experience and embrace the thrill of the open water!

Be able to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of about 20 to 30 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions.

About

Prerequisite: ASA 101 : Basic Keelboat Sailing Certificate

Upon completion of this class you will be able to:

  • Skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered (inboard or outboard engine) keelboat of approximately 25 to 35 feet length by day in moderate winds (up to 20 knots) and sea conditions.
  • Gain knowledge of cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather interpretation, safety, and seamanship

The American Sailing Association has adopted two separate Progressive Sailing Certification Programs: a seven-stage Keelboat Sailing Certification Program and a two-stage Small Boat Sailing Program.
