About This Adventure

Embark on an exciting journey with the American Sailing Association's Beginner Level Basic Keelboat Course. Over two immersive days, you'll gain hands-on sailing experience on a 23-foot boat, learning essential skills in a small group setting. Enjoy personalized instruction from seasoned professionals and build confidence to sail independently in familiar waters.

Beginner Level Course

Basic Keelboat Course (ASA101)

Graduates from our program are equipped with the skills and confidence to sail a 23 foot boat in light to moderate winds and sea conditions without supervision in familiar waters. No auxiliary power or navigation skills required.

Partake in 2 consecutive days of classroom and on-water lessons, 8 hours each with no more than 8 students per classroom and 4 students per boat. Our seasoned ASA instructors have 3 variations of classes throughout the week to offer you the gift of flexibility as you embark on your skill building journey that will last for years to come!

Morning Sessions (may vary due to weather) - Classroom instruction covering sailing theory and terminology; crew communications; knots; rules of the road; chart reading & a comprehensive test.

1 hour lunch break

Afternoon Sessions (may vary due to weather) - Three hour minimum on the water with sailing instruction aboard a 23′ sailboat practicing points of sail, boat handling, safety procedures, and crew rescue. Boats are limited to four students.

Graduates receive a $50 discount on subsequent rentals!

Please note that we need at least two people for the class to take place! If one person signs up and no other participants sign up, the class will be rescheduled.
