Performance Sailing & Spinnaker Clinic aboard our Catalina 275 Sport "Wicked Wind" or "Magic Wind".
The Catalina 275 Sport Boat, which boasts a powerful Asymmetrical kite and a telescoping bow pole, will be our practice platform for this class that will focus on flying and jibing the large asymmetrical kite. The focus of the class is the spinnaker, but in order to sail downwind with spinnaker, we must first sail a substantial distance upwind, so we will naturally use that time to focus on close hauled sailing, sail trim, and driving.
Prerequisites: US Sailing BC certification. Sailing with the spinnaker requires that the sailor feels comfortable and experienced at sailing downwind and jibing safely. You should feel confident operating an inboard engine and tiller.
Ensure wind speeds are suitable for sailing, typically between 10-20 knots for optimal conditions.
Dress in comfortable, moisture-wicking layers to stay dry and comfortable onboard.
Protect your skin from sun exposure during the day on the water.
Listen carefully to safety protocols before heading out on the water.
