Your journey begins at the Burnt Store Marina, where you board a high-end Excess 11 catamaran. This state-of-the-art sailing yacht boasts a well-designed 2- or 3-cabin layout, flexible lounge spaces, and ample deck seating ideal for soaking up the sun or sharing stories with friends and family. What sets this catamaran escape apart is its intimate, private nature. Unlike larger cruises, you have the vessel all to yourselves, creating a relaxed atmosphere for special occasions—birthdays, anniversaries, or just a day dedicated to disconnecting and enjoying the sea breeze. Guests are encouraged to bring their own snacks and beverages to customize the experience. Though red wine and hard liquor are prohibited to protect the vessel’s interior, you’re welcome to bring select refreshments to elevate your day on the water.
Palmetto itself is strategically located near Punta Gorda and Bradenton, making it an accessible gateway to the Gulf’s calmer sailing routes. The coastal area features mangroves and coastal wildlife, with dolphins and seabirds commonly seen along the way. The sailing routes can traverse open waters or hug the shoreline, providing ever-changing scenic views including native palms, sandy beaches, and the occasional glimpse of local fishing boats.
Safety measures include adult-rated life jackets onboard, so families with children need to bring kid-sized life vests or use the marina’s limited loaner availability. Bed linens can be requested prior to boarding, adding a touch of homey comfort to your trip. All charters depart mid-afternoon, maximizing daylight for exploring the water and sky as the sun tilts westward.
