You step aboard a trim yacht in Barcelona’s marina as the city slides astern and the Mediterranean opens its blue. The coastline tightens into a ribbon of cliffs, beaches and fishing ports; the boat hums and the sea air pushes forward, carrying the tang of salt and pine. After a calm sail to Port del Masnou a private minivan rides you a few minutes inland to Alella, where a 14th‑century farmhouse sits among ordered rows of vines with the sea on the horizon.

Alella has a documented wine history dating to Roman times (Laietan wines) and was an important supplier to medieval Barcelona; many estates are family‑run for generations.
Many vineyards in Alella use organic or low‑intervention practices; visitors are encouraged to stay on paths, avoid trampling vines and respect local waste policies to protect fragile coastal soils.
