The city exhales differently after dusk: neon gutters run down narrow alleys, motorbike headlights braid into a moving river, and the stone façades of colonial buildings take on an amber glow. On a Jeep tour through central Ho Chi Minh City you sit open to that river of light, the evening air pushing against your face as the Post Office and Notre-Dame Cathedral appear like well-lit pages in a history book.
