Adventure tips

Hydrate before you goBring a reusable water bottle — it’s warm in the hills and the tour involves light walking and stairs.

Wear closed-toe shoesPaths are uneven with steps; sturdy shoes reduce the chance of slips on gravel and roots.

Follow feeding protocolsOnly use the bottle provided and position your finger exactly as the guide shows to avoid stressing the birds.

Sun and insect protectionLight long sleeves, a hat and reef-safe insect repellent are smart — but avoid sprayed repellents inside the gazebo to protect birds.

Recommended gear

Sturdy walking shoes: Provides traction on uneven paths and stairs around the sanctuary.
Wide-brim sun hat: Keeps sun off your face during the short walks and while viewing from the gazebo.
Light rain jacket: April–November can bring showers; a packable jacket keeps you comfortable.
Compact binoculars: Helpful for spotting distant birds and views across Montego Bay after the feeding session.
