About

Get ready for a unique kayaking adventure as you cross from Washington Island to Rock Island, a very short distance in shallow water, with a seasoned guide leading the way. Along the journey, you'll uncover the fascinating natural history and geology of Rock Island State Park, as shared by a certified Wisconsin Master Naturalist.

We'll take a break along a remote shoreline for a light picnic lunch of local Door County products amidst breathtaking scenery, with views of St. Martin Island and the Garden Peninsula stretching into the horizon. Explore the iconic Thordarson Boathouse, a stunning architectural gem crafted entirely from island limestone in the early 1900s. Also, this tour includes an option for a break on shore to go swimming on a soft sand beach on Rock Island near the end of tour so don't forget to pack a swimsuit!

You'll see the rugged beauty of towering bluffs, weathered shorelines, and endless water horizons you will never forget. Keep an eye out for local wildlife—falcons diving along the cliffs, majestic Bald Eagles Peregrine falcons, Red tailed hawks, Great Blue Herons, Egrets and white gulls.

This half-day journey, beginning and ending at Jackson Harbor, also leaves you time to explore Washington Island on your own before returning to the mainland via car ferry.

It’s the perfect blend of adventure, education, and relaxation—an unforgettable way to experience the natural wonders of Door County.

Please Note: You are responsible for getting to Jackson Harbor on Washington Island from the mainland by 10:00 am on Wednesday. You will need to take the car ferry from the Door County mainland to Washington Island. Our tour begins promptly at 10am. Car ferry fees & admission are not included with tour purchase.
