##About

Take a Tuna fishing trip with Yaquina Bay Charters as we pursue the elusive Albacore Tuna. All sport fishing rods are used when trolling and light tackle rods to cast and jig for the fish during the later part of the season or when we get into a large school. Typically no hand lines are used. All tuna trips are 12 hours in length. ***We recommend no one younger than 12 participates in this trip unless they are very experienced on the ocean.

The tuna arrive on the Oregon coast off Newport when water temperatures warm up in the summer months, a perfect time to plan your vacation to Newport and the Oregon coast. We start fishing for tuna once the warm water currents come within 50 miles of shore. Albacore Tuna are able to strike your fishing line at speeds of 60 miles per hour and often put up a strong fight, which makes it an exciting, adrenaline-filled fishing experience.

The Rippin' Lips II is operated by Captain Del Barber Jr. The vessel is a 32' HewesCraft 24 Offshore with 16-20 k/pr avg running speed. These trips are booked for 4-5 fishermen. *Please note the Rippin' Lips does not have a head (restroom) onboard, so the facilities are a good old-fashioned bucket. There is an interior cabin area with some seating.

While most people are accustomed to eating tuna as a sandwich spread and most get theirs canned for that purpose, there is nothing tastier than the Albacore Tuna loin for BBQ grilling, or a marinated and pan-seared medallion cooked to medium rare. Albacore Tuna is also one of the tastiest smoked fish.

A $100 deposit is required for this trip. The deposit is not refundable for any cancellation within 2 weeks of the trip departure.
