The group moves through humid jungle light, helmets clinking and guides speaking low as palms peel back to reveal a raw limestone sink. A Mayan welcome and the tang of forest set the tone before the party straps into harnesses, pedals away through a shaded trail and stands at the lip of a vertical drop — the doorway into Xibalbá, the underworld.
