Ride, Revel, and Tour Paradise Palms: Atomic Ranch’s Viva Mod Vegas Weekend

Read the full experience

Atomic Ranch: Viva Mod Vegas is a weekend celebration of Mid‑Century Modern design held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over two days the program pairs a guided bike tour of Paradise Palms with an evening black‑and‑white Ring‑A‑Ding Ball and a Vintage Vegas Home Tour — plus VIP perks, exclusive access, and a swag bag. Begin Saturday with Peddlin’ Through Paradise, a guided ride through Paradise Palms, the city’s signature MidMod neighborhood. The winding streets showcase work by Palmer & Krisel, Hugh Taylor, William Bray and developers such as Irwin Molasky. Look for long low rooflines, clerestory windows, open plans and yard-to-street compositions adapted to the Mojave: palms, drought-tolerant plantings and yards that read as indoor‑outdoor rooms. The tour includes stops in private backyards that open to views of the Las Vegas National Golf Course, a famed social landscape tied to Rat Pack-era lore and the film Casino. Saturday night’s Ring‑A‑Ding Ball trades helmets for cocktails: a black‑and‑white winter soiree scored by vocalist Robbie Howard and a pianist, where era-appropriate highballs and hors d’oeuvres set a mid‑century mood. Atomic Ranch editor Jickie Torres joins Nevada Preservation Foundation historian Olivia White and homeowner Kim Bavington for a fireside chat about restoration choices and preservation challenges. VIP ticket holders receive a champagne welcome, a signed copy of Atomic Ranch: Modern Marvels, and a small meet‑and‑greet with homeowners. Sunday’s Vintage Vegas Home Tour offers intimate access to three (or four for VIPs) restored Modern residences. Homeowner presentations and local experts trace each house’s construction, renovation strategy and role in the neighborhood’s historic designation. The weekend bundle pairs the bike tour and VIP events, and comes with branded swag: an Atomic Ranch tee, The Las Vegas: Uncommon Modern Project book, pins and Paradise Palms merch. Why this matters: Paradise Palms is a rare, walkable example of postwar desert development where climate‑driven design choices still read clearly from the street. The event is run in partnership with the Nevada Preservation Foundation and Atomic Ranch, combining festival energy with preservation-minded learning. Practical notes: RTC provides bikes and helmets; events are accessible; expect desert sun and layer accordingly. Whether you come for architecture, the era music, or the rare chance to step inside private Modern homes, Viva Mod Vegas is a focused weekend that makes Las Vegas’s mid-century moment feel present and immediate. Tickets are sold through AtomicRanch.com; check the event page for schedules, VIP capacity and accessibility details. The weekend benefits Nevada Preservation Foundation efforts to document and protect Las Vegas’s mid-century neighborhoods, and attending supports local preservation initiatives. Plan for afternoon heat, early-evening cool down, and easy parking near meeting points in central Paradise Palms. Bring water, a camera, sunscreen and curiosity about modernist details and friends.

About Nevada Preservation Foundation

Nevada Preservation Foundation is a Las Vegas-based organization dedicated to showcasing local history, architecture, and landscapes through guided public experiences. The Foundation produces immersive walking tours and seasonal garden walks that highlight under-documented stories from the region, including historic neighborhoods, private gardens, and notable sites such as Woodlawn Cemetery. Each guided experience blends archival research, on-site interpretation, and community partnerships to present factual narratives about Las Vegas’ past. Tours focus on documented events, prominent figures, preservation challenges, and the cultural context that shaped neighborhoods between the 1930s and 1960s. The Darker Side of Woodlawn walking tour explores recorded incidents, legal history, and the social dynamics tied to the cemetery and surrounding areas. The Boomerang Bloom Autumn Garden Tour opens private gardens in vintage neighborhoods and highlights period homes and desert-adapted plantings. The Foundation emphasizes clear, source-based storytelling and transparent tour descriptions so visitors know what to expect before they arrive. Programming is scheduled and promoted in advance, with seasonal offerings timed to local climate and cultural calendars. As a Las Vegas organization, the Foundation collaborates with neighborhood volunteers, garden groups, and local historians to develop routes and interpretive materials. For travelers seeking historically grounded tours or gardeners interested in midcentury landscapes and drought-tolerant plantings, the Nevada Preservation Foundation provides focused, locally anchored experiences. The Foundation’s listings and event details are available through travel platforms and community calendars, enabling visitors to plan and reserve spots on each published tour.
