Step aboard a low-slung catamaran and push out from Faro’s marina into the Ria Formosa’s shallow channels, where mudflats and salt pans shape the horizon. The sea breathes softly; the guide’s voice folds into the gulls’ calls as the boat slips past reed beds and small islands that host waders and terns. Light hits the lagoon like a moving map, and every channel seems to dare you toward a new bend.
