A cold wind pushes across the open moor as you throttle forward, mud flashing from the quad’s tires and the city shrinking behind you. Within 20 minutes of Reykjavik the basalt plain opens; the trail threads between low lava outcrops and scrub, rising toward Hafrafell where a clear view of Reykjavik and Faxaflói Bay waits.

The pick-up drive is about 15–20 minutes from central Reykjavik by vehicle; pickup windows can add time so be ready at your selected stop 30 minutes prior.

You’ll view lava fields and distant signs of recent eruptions in the Reykjanes zone, but active lava flows are not on this short tour and guides will point out visible geological features safely from a distance.
