You push off beneath a low stone bridge and the river takes the lead. Cold mountain water nudges the raft, carrying a ribbon of sky framed by vertical limestone. For the next three kilometers the Lousios dares you through a narrow gorge—walls scored by millennia of water, bright green ferns clinging to seams, and the occasional monastic cell high above that watches the current like a quiet neighbor. Then Lousios folds into Alfios and the river widens; the mood shifts from canyon hush to a broader, more buoyant arc toward the Ionian.
