You feel the engine fade and the road open as Beirut recedes; by mid-morning the earth shifts from coastal scrub to stony plateaus and the Al Assi (Orontes) valley widens beneath limestone bluffs. On this full-day run you trade urban noise for the river’s current — four kilometers of whitewater that take roughly an hour of active rafting after a concise safety briefing.

Travelers should have moderate fitness; the operator advises against participation by pregnant people and those with serious heart or spinal conditions.
Full swimming skills aren’t required, but comfort in water and the ability to handle short swims or returns to the raft is helpful.

Riverbanks are sensitive—avoid littering, follow guide instructions to minimize bank trampling, and support operators who use local guides and respect seasonal closures.
