About This Adventure

Ready to try something a little more advanced? Our Intro to Race SUP lesson is perfect for those who are comfortable on a standard paddleboard and want to challenge themselves on a 14-foot race board. These boards are longer and narrower (ranging from 22”–26” wide), designed for speed and agility, but require a bit more balance and technique. We’ll start by walking you through the differences between a traditional all-around board and a race board, including how they handle in the water and why your stance and paddle stroke need to be more precise. You’ll begin the lesson on your knees to get used to the feel of the board, and as your confidence grows, we’ll guide you into a standing position. With a certified instructor by your side at all times, you’ll learn how to engage your core, improve your stroke efficiency, and even start working on turns and acceleration. This lesson is great for paddlers looking to grow their skills, build confidence, and experience the rush of speed that only a race SUP can offer.

Duration

1 Hour : Land Demo + Paddle Time

Location

In beautiful Liberty Station, San Diego behind the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. We are partnered with West Coast Paddle Sports that provides the paddle board rentals. Together we paddle down a very calm channel way that leads into a dead end where a private military dock is. The waterway is a no-wake zone for boaters and barely has boat traffic. We depart from a sandy beach but please be careful of the surrounding rocks and sharp oyster shells.

Don't know how to swim? No problem! We will suit you up with a life jacket and you will wear a SUP leash around your ankle that will be attached to the board.
