Gulls wheel and a cool wind pushes across Golfo Nuevo as double kayaks slip from the sand at Punta Loma. The sea smells of salt and kelp; sea lions lift their heads like curious hosts, bobbing close enough to be measured by a paddle-length. Guides pass out dry suits and give a concise safety briefing, then the group eases into a coastal corridor where currents push and the shoreline frames the reserve.

Moderate fitness; able to paddle seated for up to 90 minutes with short breaks
Guides position kayaks to allow safe, respectful viewing—animals may approach within a few meters but guides enforce distance rules to avoid disturbance.
No formal experience required for double kayaks, but participants should be comfortable paddling for short periods and following basic instructions.
The operator supplies double sea kayaks, paddles, outer clothing as needed, a snack, hot drink, and transport to/from meeting point when selected.

Puerto Madryn expanded from Welsh settlers in the 1860s and developed around fishing and maritime trade; Punta Loma later became protected to preserve sea lion breeding habitat.
Tours operate under conservation guidelines—keep distance, avoid feeding, and limit noise. Small-group kayaking minimizes disturbance and helps protect the rookery.
