History

The Punta Cana coast is formed from uplifted coral and sand deposits; modern marine tourism built around natural pools grew in the late 20th century as international visitors discovered calm coastal lagoons.

Conservation

Bring reef-safe sunscreen and avoid touching coral in shallow pools; operators are encouraged to follow guidelines that minimize anchor damage and disturbance to marine life.

Arrive Early for BoardingBoarding is prompt at 2:30 PM—arrive 20–30 minutes early to claim good deck space and avoid missing the boat.

Protect Electronics from SprayUse a waterproof phone case or dry bag—the deck gets splashed during transit and at the natural pool.

Consider Seasickness RemediesIf you’re prone to motion sickness, take medication beforehand and sit mid-ship where movement is minimized.

Hydrate Before and DuringAlcohol and sun combine quickly; drink water between cocktails and wear sunscreen to avoid a midday burn.
