Adventure tips

Hydrate before and during the climbCarry at least 1.5–2 L of water; guides provide refills but availability can be limited on the ridge.

Wear grippy, broken‑in bootsExpect muddy, uneven sections and short rocky pitches on the final ascent—ankle support helps.

Pace for altitude and steep sectionsAscend steadily with short breaks—3 hours uphill is moderate but sustained; listen to your body.

Respect historical sites and villagesStay on trails, avoid climbing on bunkers or memorials and ask before entering village plots.

Recommended gear

Sturdy hiking boots: Provides traction and ankle support on muddy, rocky trail sections.
Light waterproof jacket: Monsoon rains are common June–August; a packable rain shell keeps you dry.
Water reservoir or bottles (1.5–2L): Sustained climbing and higher altitude increase fluid needs.
Warm midlayer and hat: Summit temperatures can be several degrees cooler—layers trap heat without bulk.
