Prosser is a charming town at the east end of the Yakima Valley AVA. It is widely regarded as the birthplace of the wine industry in Washington state. There are almost 19,000 acres of vineyards in this AVA, and 27% of Washington grapes are grown in this region. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Syrah, and Chardonnay are the most common varietals.
This route ambles along the river and winds through town. It wraps up at a winery with sweeping vistas of the entire region. On this route, you will ride between 12-14 miles. To get to the last winery, you will be shuttled a few hundred yards up a large, gravel hill in our van. It just isn’t safe or feasible to ride up there but it’s worth the short drive.
