About

Prosser is a charming town at the east end of the Yakima Valley AVA. It is widely regarded as the birthplace of the wine industry in Washington state. There are almost 19,000 acres of vineyards in this AVA, and 27% of Washington grapes are grown in this region. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Syrah, and Chardonnay are the most common varietals.

This route ambles along the river and winds through town. It wraps up at a winery with sweeping vistas of the entire region. On this route, you will ride between 12-14 miles. To get to the last winery, you will be shuttled a few hundred yards up a large, gravel hill in our van. It just isn’t safe or feasible to ride up there but it’s worth the short drive.

What to bring/wear/consider:

  • Please dress for the weather and consider that you will be riding a bike. Dresses or skirts can make riding tricky and are therefore, discouraged.
  • Please eat a substantial breakfast. Tasting on an empty stomach is never a good idea.
  • Don’t forget sunscreen.
  • Sneakers are recommended; flat soled, closed-toe shoes are required.
  • Water! It can be very hot out on the road. We will provide water and water bottles. Hydration is critical!
  • Mask

What to leave at home:

  • Your guide will be able to carry your personal belongings but there is limited space on a bike.
  • Please just bring what you need. Leave large purses at home.
  • We also love our pets but unfortunately we cannot accommodate them on our tours and they are not allowed at many of our stops.
