Procreate Primer with a SCAD Illustrator in Monroe, GA

Set aside ninety minutes in the middle of a trip to Northeast Georgia and learn to draw in pixels: Digital Illustration with Procreate arrives as a compact, hands-on primer hosted in Monroe, Georgia, United States. Taught by Jordan Longenecker, a Monroe native and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) graduate in Illustration, this Saturday workshop condenses the essential tools and workflows of Procreate into a tight 10:00–11:30 AM session that’s tailored to beginners and limited to eight students. The class centers on the digital workspace — your iPad and Apple Pencil — and walks you through the elements that matter most: brushes, layers, color selection, erasing and resizing, and reliable save/export routines so your work travels home with you. After setup time and a guided practice period, you’ll begin a piece under Jordan’s direction and leave with an editable project ready for continued work. No previous digital art experience is required; students age 13 and up are welcome. Bring a compatible iPad and Apple Pencil that are fully charged and paired; the Procreate app is not included (approximate cost $13) but can be purchased at the start of class if needed. What makes this offering unusual in a region known for parks and trails is its local voice and practical focus: the instructor is a Monroe native with a professional digital practice, and the class is run by a community arts provider (MWCA). That local connection keeps the pace friendly and responsive — the eight-person limit means specific feedback rather than lecture. Travelers who spend mornings hiking or paddling around nearby natural areas can fold this workshop into an afternoon or rest day to sharpen creative skills without committing to a long course. Logistics are straightforward: arrive 5–10 minutes early to get devices ready; plan for a concentrated, screen-focused session that emphasizes fine motor control and software navigation. Expect hands-on demos, paired practice, and time to save your work to your device. The format is ideal for people curious about digital illustration, folks transitioning from traditional media, and visitors seeking a creative counterpoint to the region’s outdoor activities. Bring your Apple ID and payment method if you need to buy Procreate, and be prepared for a workshop pace that’s brisk but supportive. With a modest fee, small class size, and a SCAD-trained illustrator at the helm, this session is a practical, compact entry into digital art that fits neatly on a travel itinerary. Students leave with a saved Procreate file, export options explained, and a roadmap of next steps for practice at home. Last-minute registration is welcome when space remains, and the instructor’s local perspective makes this a concise, high-value workshop for visitors and residents alike who want to convert outdoor inspiration into digital artwork.
