You step onto a low dock before dawn, the Gulf breathing cool air across the hull as your private boat waits. The guide checks tides and radios; the sea, impatient and magnetic, seems to be holding its breath for the first dorsal to appear. Cruising out from Playa del Carmen, the coast slides away and the water opens into the whale sharks’ summer lanes — vast, slow-moving shadows that invite you to float beside them.

If no whale sharks are located you can reschedule or receive a certificate for a future tour; guides prioritize safety and sightings depend on conditions.
