The day begins as a private car eases away from Doha, the city’s glass and highway noise shrinking behind you. In an hour the asphalt thins and the land opens into a pale, wind-carved plain—rocks stacked like deliberate sculptures, dunes flattened into keels, and occasional salt flats that flash like mirrors.

Expect about a 45–60 minute drive west from central Doha to reach the Brouq/Ras Abrouq area—roughly 40 miles (65 km) depending on your pickup point.
Visits include the Al Shahaniya racetrack; races run mainly October–February with major events in March–April, but active racing schedules vary and cannot be guaranteed daily.
The tour is rated easy; however, short walks over uneven rock may be challenging for very young children or those with limited mobility—book infant seats if needed for transfers.
Climbing on the protected rock formations or touching the Richard Serra installation is discouraged or prohibited—follow your guide’s directions and posted signage to protect the sites.
