You arrive on a bright morning as the minivan slips off I-66 and climbs Short Hill Mountain; the air changes from urban exhaust to something cooler, vegetal and faintly fermented. Vine rows step down the slopes in neat ribbons, and the guide points out a pale farmhouse before you pull into a tasting room with a wooden deck and a view that runs to the Blue Ridge.

The route follows old north–south trade corridors; the nearby Hillsboro area developed in the early 19th century as a linear village serving horse-and-wagon commerce between Leesburg and Charles Town.
Vineyards are working agricultural lands; follow paths, avoid trampling young vines, and support producers who practice sustainable viticulture when possible.
