Start at sunriseArrive early to see the Taj at its quietest and to avoid the midday heat and crowds; security lines open before first light.

Carry ID and ticket infoKeep a printed or mobile ticket and government ID handy for monument entry and guide access; foreign passport is commonly required.

Dress for modesty and comfortWear breathable, modest clothing and comfortable shoes—courtyards are paved and can be hot; shoulders and knees should be covered for some sites.

Small cash for facilitiesBring small-denomination cash or change for public toilets, tea stalls, and local tips where cards aren’t accepted.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Support and traction for paved courtyards, mosque steps, and occasional uneven surfaces.
Sun protection (hat, sunscreen): Protects against intense sun during midday drive and open monument grounds.
Light scarf or shawl: Useful for modesty in religious areas and for a quick layer during cooler mornings.
Reusable water bottle: Stay hydrated—carried water reduces reliance on bottled options and helps in hot months.
