Hvar has served as a maritime crossroads for centuries—Venetian and Austro-Hungarian influences shaped its ports and stone harbors, while fishing traditions persist in small coastal villages.
The Adriatic around Hvar contains important Posidonia seagrass meadows; responsible anchoring, avoiding single-use plastics and following skipper guidance helps reduce impact.
