Bring reef-safe sunscreenUse mineral-based sunscreen to protect coral and avoid reapplication products that leave residue on reefs.

Arrive with swimwear under clothesQuick boarding from a cruise or pier is easier if you’re already dressed for the water and wearing reef-safe footwear.

Keep valuables dryUse a small waterproof dry bag for phone, ID, and cash—the boat ride and shallow pools are splash-prone.

Time your snorkelingMidday brings best visibility but strongest sun—snorkel early or late to avoid peak heat while still seeing fish.

Recommended gear

Reef-safe sunscreen: Protects skin and the coral ecosystem while allowing longer time in the water.
Mask and snorkel (or rental): A well-fitting mask improves visibility and confidence while snorkeling shallow reefs.
Quick-dry swimwear and rashguard: Protects from sun and irritants while staying comfortable on boat and in water.
Small waterproof dry bag: Keeps phone, documents, and cash safe during transfers and on the beach.
