You climb into an open-air Jeep and the redrock walls close around you like a theater before the curtain lifts. The vehicle bumps onto Boynton Pass Road, pine needles and juniper brushing the sides, and the guide points out trails that braid the ridgelines. A short walk on uneven ground leads to a lesser-known upflow vortex: wind and light seem to tilt differently there, and the view opens in a full 360 degrees over scarlet cliffs and distant desert plains.

2 hours.
Moderate fitness: able to manage short hikes on uneven ground and climb over rocky steps.
The experience is approximately two hours total with several short hikes of 10–30 minutes each on uneven terrain; overall elevation gain is modest but footing can be loose.
Minimum age is 3; short hikes require moderate mobility—guests with serious spinal, heart, or pregnancy concerns are advised not to participate.
This private tour visits a lesser-known upflow vortex with 360-degree views and stops near Cathedral Rock but does not include technical climbs on Cathedral Rock itself.
Closed-toe hiking shoes, sun protection, water, and layered clothing are recommended; guides may adapt the itinerary based on conditions.
Sedona’s redrock country sits on ancestral lands of the Yavapai and Hopi peoples; the area’s geology reflects Permian sandstone uplifted and carved by erosion.
Stay on designated trails to protect fragile desert soils and native vegetation; limits on off-trail travel help prevent erosion and protect cultural sites.
