Monterey Bay opens wide; to the west the Monterey Submarine Canyon cuts deep, pulling nutrient-rich water and the animals that follow it.
Monterey’s shoreline is shaped by a working maritime past: 20th-century canneries on Cannery Row gave way to marine science at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the bay’s geology—one of the deepest submarine canyons on the West Coast—creates surprisingly rich wildlife habitat close to shore.
On a two-hour private charter for up to six guests you’ll likely see sea otters, playful dolphins, harbor seals and, in season, migrating whales. The captain handles navigation and safety; snacks and bottled water are included. Bring layered clothing, a camera, and binoculars; the wind and spray can change within minutes.
