Jermuk developed as a spa town in the 19th century around thermal springs; memorials like the Israel Ori statue reflect regional history of Armenian statecraft and cultural memory.
Protective signage asks visitors to stay on paths and not disturb natural springs; tourism supports local businesses but requires attention to waste and trail erosion.
